In the past year, we've seen images of extreme pollution events across China, far in excess of anything that would be tolerated in developed countries.
What's been largely uncovered by mainstream media in the west, are the protests and demonstrations, sometimes violent, that have been breaking out against new coal power stations, oil and gas development, and polluting industries across China.

Jerry was taken into custody of US marshals today at 4:18 PM. Throughout his hearing, he did not answer any questions; he remained silent the entire time.
About sixty people showed in support of Jerry. The court room was packed, and he knew as he was taken by the marshals that we support and love him. The crowd yelled out their support for him as he was escorted out of the room.

Longtime journalist Chris Hedges calls the Justice Department’s monitoring of Associated Press reporters’ phone calls “one more assault in a long series of assaults against freedom of information and freedom of the press.” Highlighting the Obama administration’s targeting of government whistleblowers, Hedges adds: “Talk to any investigative journalist who must investigate the government and they will tell you that there is a deep freeze. People are terrified of speaking, because they are terrified of going to jail.”
On Thursday, Senate Republicans blocked President Obama's nominee to head the Environmental Protection Agency, Gina McCarthy. But as Republican obstructionism goes, this wasn't your everyday obstructionism. Republicans actually boycotted a committee vote to deny a quorum, prompting committee chair, California Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, to proclaim that Republicans should "Get out of the fringe lane."
Republicans wouldn't even let the nominee out of committee.
Defense Distributed, the Texas-based nonprofit that wants to empower people to 3D print their own guns, has hit a bit of a legal snag.
